Children of Japan Airlines flyers who are able to use the Sakura Lounge at Bangkok Airport now have something fun to look forward to: a toy flight simulator built by the local maintenance team.
According to a social media post made by JAL the local station team used their downtime during the pandemic to get a little crafty and they constructed this toy for the kids to use while parents hang out at the lounge.
The Japan Airlines Sakura Lounge at Bangkok Airport is rather nice and has been renovated in recent years. It’s food & beverage assortment is very solid but that’s mostly for the adult travelers to look forward to.
Now the kids can have some fun while waiting for the flight as well:
Pretty nice details on this Flight Sim, I wonder how long it’ll last even in the confines of the lounge.
Some of the airport lounges have evolved and not only targeting business travelers but also families traveling with children.
I remember especially the Qatar Airways lounges in Doha having extensive play rooms for children, especially the Al Safwa First Class one.
Conclusion
The next time you’re traveling from or through Bangkok on a oneWorld airline you can check out the Japan Airlines Sakura Lounge (limited opening hours) and see what they did with this construction.
It’s good to see JAL putting a bit of creative entertainment for the kids in the lounge so they have something to do other than running through the room or playing with their ipad. Usually there are plenty of children in the JAL lounge as there is a lot of family traffic between Thailand and Japan and many have access to the lounges based on JAL/oneWorld Status or cabin class.
