United Airlines with Points.com has decided to launch a miles subscription service that many other non-North America-based airlines already offer, like Avianca, TAP, and Copa, to name a few.
MileagePlus members can sign up for a “Miles by a Month” at three different levels that award them miles throughout the year.

Not sure how they calculate the “savings”?
This offer from United only makes sense if you have exhausted the yearly purchase maximum and have an excellent use for MileagePlus miles that other Star Alliance programs cannot match.
I cannot see this as a reasonable option for most MileagePlus members that can either buy miles cheaper from United OR utilize other airlines that sell miles cheaper and have as good if not better award chart than United, such as Avianca, Air Canada, and Copa.
Understandably, United tries to extort the maximum amount of cash it can from MileagePlus members, but why devalue the award chart to the extend that most other programs offer far better value proposition?

The Miles by the Month from MileagePlus® is available from United commencing on 12:00am CST on August 24, 2021. United reserves the right to withdraw the Miles by the Month from MileagePlus at any time. Any packages purchased during the offer period will be honored by United for the term of the indicated package.
Mileage rates and other applicable fees for the Miles by the Month from MileagePlus are subject to change without notice. The Miles by the Month from MileagePlus may not be combined with any other promotions and/or discounts.
Prices displayed on this page do not include any fees or taxes. GST/HST is charged to Canadian residents. QST is charged to Quebec residents.
All Miles purchased are nonrefundable. Your package can be cancelled at any time, but cannot be paused, upgraded or downgraded, and already purchased Miles will not be refunded. Members who cancel a package premature to completing the full subscription term (as committed to by the Member at time of sign up for such package) will be prohibited from beginning a new subscription for ninety (90) days from the date of such cancelation.
You may subscribe to only one (1) package associated with your MileagePlus account at any given time. The minimum and maximum number of Miles that you may purchase on a monthly basis as part your package will be established at the time of your subscription. Your package may also include a quarterly bonus that will be earned at the end of each quarterly period from your package start date and will be credited to your account after successful completion of every third recurring payment towards your package.
Any Miles purchased or received as a bonus under your package will not count toward Premier® qualification or for any increased or improved status in the MileagePlus program.
The credit card used for the purchase of your package will be billed in twelve equal monthly installments, with the first monthly installment billed immediately upon purchase and the eleven remaining installments billed on the monthly anniversary of the purchase date.
In the event that any installment payment for your package cannot be successfully charged to your credit card when due, you may update your payment information in order for the payment to be reprocessed. If no update is provided to your payment information within 30 days of the installment payment due date, your package will be cancelled and already purchased Miles will not be refunded.
Most Miles purchases will process and post within hours of the transaction but allow up to 48 hours for Miles to process and post to your MileagePlus account.
If you use Powered by Points to purchase United MileagePlus miles, the transaction will appear as ‘Points United Miles’.
