British Airways Executive Club is running a scheduled maintenance during the next 2-3 weeks through 17 November 2021 and members will find themselves unable to access certain account options including Avios redemptions.
For now only household account modifications are impacted but from the afternoon of 13 November 2021 until the morning of 17 November 2021 (GMT), you’ll be unable to log in to your Executive Club account or spend your Avios.
British Airways has given members notice and is currently doing so again in order to get their redemptions in order before access to the Avios cuts out for the better part of the week mid November.
Today BAEC sent out another email blast to once again remind people of the timeline and upcoming account limitations:
Dear Sebastian,
We’ve previously been in touch about our planned improvements to the Executive Club, letting you know you’ll be unable to access your Household Account until 17 November 2021.
In addition to this, from the afternoon of 13 November 2021 until the morning of 17 November 2021 (GMT), you’ll be unable to log in to your Executive Club account or spend your Avios. But rest assured, you will continue to collect Avios during this time.
Thank you for your patience and understanding while we make these improvements.
With best wishes,
Your Executive Club team
Whenever there is scheduled IT maintenance of a loyalty program it’s really a wild card and especially with British Airways we’ve seen how bad it can really go over the years.
Especially with the Christmas and New Years holidays coming up the best is to be aware that in case you’re planning a redemption of any kind better do get it all in a row before this date or be prepared to wait until at least November 18th.
Additionally I’d recommend to take a screenshot of your account balance and in case you need it, download a digital copy of your tier membership card or request a physical one by mail.
Conclusion
British Airways Executive Club is running a scheduled through 17 November 2021 and members will find themselves unable to complete a variety of transactions.
It would be prudent to keep this in mind if you’re planning to do anything with your Avios in the next few weeks or want to use your BAEC status in some way. Even though it doesn’t explicitly say there will be any other impacts such as the database going entirely offline. That being said you never know and it’s better to be safe than sorry.
