Good news for members of Bangkok Airways FlyerBonus as the program just announced that any points due to expire by 31 December, 2021 will now remain valid until 31 December, 2022.
Unused points for the current quarter ending December 31, 2021 will be calculated and then credited back to the member accounts by January 31, 2022.
Bangkok Airways FlyerBonus is one of these programs that lets points expire on a quarterly basis but due to the pandemic almost all decent frequent flyer programs have paused their expiration entirely or at least introduced extension policies.
You can access Bangkok Airways website for the expiration waiver here.
Bangkok Airways fully appreciates the integral role that FlyerBonus points play in enhancing the travel experience and to ensure that members can continue to redeem awards conveniently, the FlyerBonus programme is pleased to announce a maximum 12 month extension on point validity.
Put simply, any points that were due to expire on 31 December, 2021 will now remain valid until 31 December, 2022. Members can now proceed with redeeming any expiring points, for an array of awards, with greater flexibility.
The validity extension on any unused points on 31 December 2021 will be calculated and sent to member accounts by 31 January 2022.
FlyerBonus hopes this announcement will alleviate any member concerns and the new timeframe provides ample opportunities to plan, redeem and travel with Asia’s Boutique Airline.
Bangkok Airways had previously reduced their schedule during the pandemic and the three month long Thailand lockdown that started early July. During this time only a small amount of flights operated and passengers that were seeking to travel within a country faced tough conditions.
It was pretty much impossible for FlyerBonus members to redeem their points properly this year, especially if the member doesn’t even live in Thailand to begin with.
With the opening of the country and easement of measures in general Bangkok Airways has now resumed most operations and this policy helps members to find a good redemption opportunity within the coming 12 months.
This extension is automatic and doesn’t require any registration.
Conclusion
FlyerBonus has announced that they will waive the expiration rule for any points that were due to expire on 31 December, 2021 which will now remain valid until 31 December, 2022.
While not the most attractive program the miles do add up if you fly a little within Thailand and hopefully international destinations will resume as well at some point not that the borders are open again.
