It seems that the fraudsters have found a new way to reach potential victims, and instead of emails, they are now sending fraud alerts by text messages.
I have received “fraud” alerts by text message from Chase, Citibank, and Wells Fargo in the past week. All these are fake:
Citibank
Wells Fargo
Conclusion
I thought that the one where the scammers were using Amazon AWS as the host is quite clever, and many will end up unintentionally clicking through. At least the email providers can quickly identify messages as SPAM, but I am not sure if the same is possible with text messages.
