On Friday, the Dutch government decided to test all the passengers arriving on two KLM flights from South Africa (Johannesburg & Cape Town).
Despite the requirement to show a negative test result before allowed on the flight, 61 of 600 passengers tested positive at Schiphol. All were sent to quarantine.
Here’s an excerpt from the Dutch News:
Health board officials say 61 of the 600 people on two flights from South Africa which arrived at Schiphol airport on Friday morning have now tested positive for coronavirus.
All the passengers reportedly had to show a negative fast test no older than 24 hours before boarding the flight. The passengers were kept at the airport well into the night while waiting to be tested and for the results. The Netherlands imposed a flight ban from southern Africa on Friday morning because of concerns about a new form of coronavirus, now named Omicron.
Conclusion
This begs to question of whether all the tests performed in South Africa were actual or those negative results photoshopped?
Remarkably, more than 10% of passengers tested positive considering the sample size of 600, and more positive cases likely popping up during the quarantine period.
I genuinely hope that the current vaccines are effective against the latest variant named Omicron.
