Whenever you think there’s nothing that can surprise you anymore then there’s another aviation story coming, this time about a woman who decided it’s a great idea to breastfeed a cat (!!) during a Delta Air Lines Flight.
The flight from Syracuse, NY to Atlanta, GA took an unexpected turn when the passenger allowed her cat out of the carrier and then started to let the animal feed on her breasts while being seated.
Passengers reported the matter to the cabin crew and in response flight attendants demanded the passenger cease her bizarre activity which she refused to do.
As Newsweek reported the matter was relayed to the pilots who then messaged the ground staff in Atlanta that someone should meet the flight to handle the matter.
A woman on a recent Delta Airlines flight allegedly began to breastfeed her pet cat mid-flight and refused to stop after getting caught.
The incident allegedly happened during a recent trip onboard Delta Flight 1360, a route that travels between Syracuse, New York and Atlanta, Georgia. An image posted to social media suggests that the purported cat breastfeeding happened while the plane was headed towards Atlanta, although it is not clear exactly when the incident happened.
The image circulating online describes the supposed event in what appears to be a screen capture of message sent using the Aircraft Communications Addressing and Reporting System (ACARS), which pilots use to transmit short text-based messages to the ground.
The message reports that a passenger is seat 13A “is breastfeeding a cat and will not put cat back in carrier” in response to a request from a flight attendant. The message asks that the situation be addressed by the airline’s “Red Coat” team upon landing. Delta describes members of the team as “elite airport customer service experts” who are “specially trained to handle on-the-stop customer issues.”
A TikTok account from flight attendant Ainsley Elizabeth appears to refer to the incident, with a video posted on November 2 claiming that “security met the flight because a woman was breastfeeding her cat.”
“This woman had one of those, like, hairless cats swaddled up in a blanket so it looked like a baby,” Ainsley Elizabeth said in a follow-up video posted on November 13. “Her shirt was up and she was trying to get the cat to latch and she wouldn’t put the cat back in the carrier. And the cat was screaming for its life.”
Delta has not commented publicly on this incident and nothing else except these reports is known although they paint a pretty clear picture.
Have people gone totally bonkers now? Like… WHY!?
Why would the animal even be interested in being breastfed like an infant? Cats also have pretty sharp teeth and claws so this entire situation is simply insane. The account of the crew as quoted in the article also stated that the poor cat was pretty unhappy with all this. It’s also generally prohibited to take onboard pets out of their carrier and the passenger refused multiple times to put the cat back.
I wonder if this person is going to face the same stiff fines the government has recently implemented for people who don’t follow the instructions of the crew and create a scene on board. Or is that only for folks who refuse to wear a mask!?
This seems to be a case that’s pretty clear-cut and well documented. Let’s see if we ever hear anything about this person being fined or banned from Delta.
Assuming this story checks out I guess it’s another one for the ban list if the carrier applies their standards about interference with the cabin crew in an equal manner. Penalties should also be applied.
Something is obviously wrong with this lady and I feel sorry for the pet because this kind of behavior just cries abuse. Some people shouldn’t be allowed to keep animals. Since January of this year Delta doesn’t accept any more emotional support animals except for trained and certified service dogs so this must have been a regular pet in cabin booking.
