American Express has added another design card feature, this time for the Platinum Card which will be available by request for new and existing cardholders starting tomorrow January 20, 2022.

Amex is offering two design options featuring two artists, one with a rather nice floral design (shown above) and the other with a modern, abstract image.
Both cards were unveiled early December but won’t be available to members until the end of January and can be requested from January 20, 2022 by contacting customer service either by phone, chat or if we’re lucky there will be an online request option as we’ve previously seen with the Amex Rose Gold card.
Here is the second option:
I find this second design irritating to say the least. It really triggers my OCD.
I’m however a big fan of the floral design and will definitely order one of those tomorrow just for fun and giggles.
You can find more information from American Express through their press release yesterday (access the Amex website here).
As someone who doesn’t use his Amex Platinum for anything else but air ticket purchases, rental cars and purchases under attractive Amex offers having a physically attractive card really isn’t very relevant for me.
I honestly couldn’t tell you when I last swiped my Platinum card anywhere. It’s pretty much all online these days. I did use the contactless payment option 5x during the last month to get my $2 off each $5+ transaction though.
Conclusion
American Express USA has rolled out two new Platinum design cards that members can order by late January. The new cards will be free when replaced but obviously will only be sent if actively requested starting tomorrow, January 20th.
I’m looking forward to seeing how the floral design looks on the actual card. The card replacement will involve another FedEx shipment to deliver it to Thailand, at least I’m getting some value for money for my annual fee.
Are you going to order a card for yourself?
