Hilton has launched its first Honors points sale of 2022 with a 100% bonus in early January that is about to end. You must purchase by February 9.
Members can usually buy up to 80,000 points per calendar year before the bonus, although the limit is often doubled.
You can access Hilton’s web page for buying points here.
You have to buy a minimum of 15,000 points for this sale to get the 100% bonus.
Price of buying 80,000 points with 100% bonus:
The cost of a point is the usual 0.5 US cents each.
Hilton award charts:
Hilton still has several hotels requiring just 5,000 or 10,000 points per night, although they have become much rarer than in the past, especially in great locations.

Remember to use Award Calendar:
How to use Hilton’s flexible dates award calendar to pull up availability for the entire year?
Here are examples when buying points make good sense:
You get the fifth night free on all these four examples below, bringing the average number of points required per night lower by 20%.
Mango House Seychelles, LXR Hotels & Resorts
Waldorf-Astoria Palm Jumeirah
Conrad Punta Mita
You have to keep in mind that Honors awards include all fees and taxes that sometimes can be an additional 20-30% on top of the initial rate displayed, and all elite members get the fifth night free when redeeming points.
The best use of Hilton Honors points is when and where the paid rates are through the roof, such as the Maldives or French Polynesia properties. Always check the revenue rates and compare against the price for points purchases.
It is good to know that Hilton will continue its frequent points sales in 2022. You sometimes have the purchase limit doubled, which was not the case with my account.

Merchants are assigned codes based on what they primarily sell. We group certain merchant codes into categories that are eligible for additional Points. A purchase with a merchant will not receive additional Points if the merchant’s code is not included in a reward category. You may not receive additional Points if we receive inaccurate information or are otherwise unable to identify your purchase as eligible for a reward category. For example, you may not receive additional Points when: a merchant uses a third-party to sell their products or services; or a merchant uses a third-party to process or submit your transaction to us (e.g., using mobile or wireless card readers); or you choose to make a purchase using a third-party payment account or make a purchase using a mobile or digital wallet.
