Leading Hotels of the World (LHW) is a collection of luxury, mostly independent hotels that provide loyalty benefits through its Leaders Club program that has gone through some changes recently, mainly for the better.
Now, LHW expands rates that qualify for the points under their Leaders Club program. Previously, only reservations booked directly with LHW on their website have or through travel professionals have.
You can access LHW here.
Consortia rates such as Virtuoso and Amex Fines Hotels and Resorts now qualify for points but are not eligible for Leaders Club benefits.
Business travelers also earn points for bookings made through corporate travel agencies and booking tools. These are also not eligible for benefits but are for points.
Still, bookings made directly with LHW-associated hotels are neither eligible for points nor benefits (this is nut)s.
Here’s the update that LHW sent out to Leaders Club members:
As a Leaders Club member, you receive points and benefits when you reserve your stays through Leading Hotels Reservations and Service Centers, LHW.com, and on eligible bookings made by your travel professional.1
And the Small Print 1:
1You will be eligible to receive all Leaders Club benefits if your reservation was booked with a publicly available rate or Leaders Club special members only rate through an eligible booking channel.
Now we’re offering you even more ways to earn points toward free nights.
As of January 25, 2022, you will earn points on Leading Hotels stays booked through your travel professional’s luxury consortia relationships, including programs such as Virtuoso, Signature Travel Network, and American Express Fine Hotels + Resorts®.2
And the Small Print 2:
2If your reservation was booked with a negotiated rate, you will be eligible to receive Leaders Club points but are not eligible to receive other Leaders Club benefits.
You will also earn points on business travel bookings made via corporate travel agencies and corporate booking tools.3
And the Small Print 3:
3 If your reservation was booked with a corporate rate, you will be eligible to receive Leaders Club points but are not eligible to receive other Leaders Club benefits.
Have Leaders Club Number On The Reservation:
Just ensure your Leaders Club member number is included at the time of booking, and your points will be delivered to your account after you complete each qualifying stay.
Most of these consortia bookings provide similar or more significant benefits than Leaders Club offers, and this merely means that you cannot stack them.
It is a good move that these Virtuoso and Amex FHR bookings now are qualifying for earnings points and likely reaching a higher tier with LHW.
