The offer, which is open for renewals until March 31, rewards members with an additional 20,000 points after staying two nights after renewing in addition to the usual 15,000 points for a total of 35,000.
You can access IHG’s page for the Ambassador program here.

As I had planned to check out the reflagged Crowne Plaza in Barcelona, now InterContinental, I decided to pay $200 and hope that the 20,000 bonus would post to my stay in late January. I was also targeted for a small bonus of 5,000 points for consuming two nights in January.
The stay was booked using the InterContinental “Free” Weekend Night-rate (read more here). IHG states that both nights are eligible even when, theoretically, the second night is “free” with an inflated price for the first.
Here’s what was posted to my account:
The revenue is incorrect unless the latest double points promotion (read more here) posts this way (the stay that ended on January 31 posted in February). The revenue is correct, however, if not taking into account the wiping of charges for the second night.
The 20,000 bonus points for the Ambassador Renewal promotion were posted with the stay, as did the 5,000 bonus points for the targeted January stay promotion (read more here).
The usual renewal (15,000) points and this bonus offer (20,000) essentially cover the price of the Ambassador program, regardless of what you think whether it is worthwhile for you or not.
There was some ambiguity around the 20,000 bonus offer if it would only apply to nights consumed AFTER your membership year is over, and new begins. It does apply to nights that are consumed AFTER you renew, regardless of when your renewal is due.
