Icelandair has ended Saga Club status support from April 1, 2022, which the airline began two years ago.
The airline claims that this is no longer required, as they fly to almost all of the existing destinations and to four cities that Icelandair has not previously served.

Here’s the announcement from Icelandair:
With brighter times ahead we are looking forward to upcoming travels since we are now flying to almost all of our destinations again. On top of that we are also adding four new exciting destinations: Alicante, Nice, Raleigh-Durham and Rome.
For the last two years we have supported your status in Saga Club by adding Bonus Tier Credits to your Saga Club account, because of travel restrictions due to Covid-19.
Now that the pandemic is diminishing we are discontinuing this monthly support from April 1, 2022 onwards.
You can sign into your Saga Club account to check your status, Tier Credits, Saga Points and explore ways to enjoy them.
We appreciate your loyalty and look forward to welcoming you on board.
Some airlines have decided to continue status extensions or lowered qualification requirements, as international travel is nowhere near what it was back in 2019.
It is interesting to see how and if Covid has upended Icelandair’s business model, which was to shuttle passengers from North America to Europe using its strategically located hub of Reykjavik for smooth connections.
