We covered earlier today that Marriott had extended Bonvoy members’ June 30 expiring Suite Night Awards by 6 months through December 31, 2022 (read more here).
It turns out that this extension was a system malfunction and Marriott will correct affected member accounts and expire the mistakenly extended SNAs.

Note From Marriott:
We have learned that a limited number of Suite Night Awards in member accounts that were scheduled to expire yesterday, June 30, 2022, were extended through December 31, 2022.
We have begun the process of updating the accounts of members who may have been affected and expiring these Suite Night Awards as planned.
As we have previously shared, we are unable to extend Suite Night Awards any further. We apologize for the confusion and inconvenience this may have caused.
Conclusion
Marriott must have had an automated script or program running that they forgot to turn off and it ended up extending all these June 30 expiring Suite Night Awards through the end of 2022.
Is it really worth “correcting” this mistake rather than having these SNAs extended for another six months, is another question?
Members booking hotels and then applying SNAs bring extra revenue in, whether they end up clearing or not.
