Marriott must have heard the message from irritated Bonvoy members whose Suite Night Awards (SNA) were expiring on June 30 and decided to extend them at the last minute by an additional 6 months through December 31, 2022.
Suite Night Awards were introduced to Marriott Rewards and later to the Marriott Bonvoy from Starwood Preferred Guest.
You can access Marriott’s page for Suite Night Awards here.

Marriott Bonvoy members can choose five SNAs as a Choice Benefit option at 50 and 75 nights every calendar year.
You can then apply SNAs for reservations at select brands. These start clearing a maximum of five nights before and are redeposited back to your account if they don’t.
Even if Suite Night Awards don’t clear, it doesn’t mean that you won’t get upgraded. It merely means that the SNA process couldn’t find any room/suite types applicable at the specific property.

How Many Marriott Bonvoy Suite Night Awards Do you Have Expiring Today?
I Just Applied Two!
I have a stay coming at the Gritti Palace in Venice next week, and I couldn’t apply any SNAs previously because mine were expiring on June 30.
Let’s see if the SNA process can assign a suite for the two-night stay at the property next week. The hotel appears to be full.
Conclusion
You should apply Suite Night Awards when staying at a luxury international property (think of St. Regis, Luxury Collection, W, and perhaps JW Marriott). I would not waste them at a run-of-the-mill Sheraton, Marriott, or Westin.
I always choose other Choice Benefit Options than SNAs, even back in the Starwood times. I believe that I had 20 expire unused when these were first launched.
Unfortunately, Marriott has no other reasonable option at 50 nights than SNAs. I always choose the free night award at 75 nights.
How are you planning to use just extended SNAs?
