IHG One Rewards has sent out “invitations” from Holiday Club Vacations that may look rather tempting.

Who wouldn’t stay in a hotel at a holiday destination for three nights at $149 or while earning 10,000 IHG bonus points? There always is a catch.

The catch is that you are “invited” to a timeshare presentation lasting two hours, and you must be able to say a definite NO at the end, or this is the most expensive vacation of your lifetime.

Most hotel chains have separate or loosely affiliated timeshare divisions that often send out invitations for a vacation at a low price and with some bonus points thrown in.

There is no downside to taking advantage of these offers knowing that you will have to spend a couple of hours at a presentation.

Sometimes these can be rather hard-sell situations with questionable math. You need to say no and make sure that the presentation doesn’t last more than two hours.
