IHG’s renamed loyalty program, IHG One Rewards, has gone through a refresh this year with benefit upgrades for elite members and new Milestone Rewards.
IHG One Rewards has now clarified complimentary and confirmable upgrade benefits for worse.

Some InterContinental hotels have already started to rename their club lounges under different names to prevent complimentary access:

Here are the updates:
Change 1: Complimentary Upgrades
Complimentary Upgrades to Club rooms, Club REGENT or Club InterContinental rooms / floors do not include Club Level amenities or services, e.g. Club Lounge access, free pressing, airport transportation, etc.
So, upgrades to Club rooms don’t come with ANY club benefits. Often, Cub rooms are identical to standard rooms. So, if you strip out any of the Club-level benefits, there is no upgrade.
Change 2: Welcome Amenity
Diamond Elite Members’ Welcome Amenity choice also includes Free Breakfast at full-service and select-service brands (REGENT, InterContinental, Hualuxe, Hotel Indigo, voco, Crowne Plaza, Even, Holiday Inn, and Kimpton)
UPDATE:
Not offered at InterContinental Residence Suites Dubai Festival City or InterContinental Doha Residences
Diamond members are not eligible for complimentary breakfast for two at these hotels.
Change 3: Confirmable Suite Upgrades
Confirmable Suite Upgrades to Club rooms, Club REGENT or Club InterContinental rooms / floors do not include Club level amenities or services, e.g. Club Lounge access, free pressing, airport transportation, etc.
So, if you use one of the suite reward options from Milestone Rewards, the suite doesn’t come with its usual benefits, such as club access.
You must choose the Club Access Award as 40 or 70 nights Milestone Rewards.

It didn’t take long for IHG to remove or limit the benefits that were just launched. I hope that there are no further negative changes.
