IHG One Rewards has extended buy points flash sale at a lower 80% bonus (last week 100%) valid for purchases made through August 15, 2022.
IHG frequently sells its points (the maximum bonus is 100%), and members can now buy up to 150,000 (sometimes with an increased limit of 250,000) every calendar year before any targeted offers.

Does it make sense to purchase points?
Purchasing points merely because they are on sale doesn’t make sense. If you have a good use for them, buying can considerably lower the stays’ price.
IHG recently moved to variably priced awards, and there have been some excellent deals lately by using points.
Conclusion
IHG’s awards are all over the map now that they are primarily based on the cash price for the night. However, there are some fluctuations, and you can occasionally save significantly by buying points over paying the cash price.
It doesn’t make much sense to buy at any bonus level other than 100% (or 50% off), at which IHG sells its points frequently.
