Marriott Bonvoy December Promotion: Buy Points With 25% Off Through December 20, 2022

by Sebastian Powell
December 7, 2022
Reading Time: 3 mins read

Marriott Bonvoy is currently running a December Holiday promotion for its members to purchase points with 25% discount through December 20, 2022.

Members can purchase 100,000 points per transaction and receive a 25% discount in the process, which can then be used for hotel redemptions or airline mile transfers.

This offer is actually a good option to circumnavigate the soaring holiday hotel rates and also offer a backdoor to buy airline miles with programs that don’t officially sell miles outright such as ANA Mileage Club.

You can access this offer on Marriott’s website here.

Get 25% off when you buy 2,000 or more points, now through December 20, 2022.

Points are the perfect gift — for yourself, your family, and friends. Inspire the travel lovers in your life to discover extraordinary hotels, world-class restaurants, or rejuvenating spas in beautiful destinations.

Keep in mind that any account that receives points must have been open for a minimum of 90 days OR 30 if there has been any qualifying activity.

Marriott Bonvoy has frequently sold its points at 40-60% bonus in the past.

This is the current price:

The price of a point (one) under this offer is 0.94 cents each which might or might not make sense depending on your use case. For high value redemptions it might be okay or if you plan to book an expensive mileage award such as an ANA RTW.

Remember that Marriott moved away from award categories in March of this year:

How Marriott Bonvoy Flexible Awards Are Working For You?

I would therefore only buy points with a specific purpose in mind and after checking for availability.

Conclusion

Marriott has sold points at various bonuses in the past year, and most offers have been a lot better than 25% off. You should only buy points during these sales IF you can beneficially use them (save cash over paid/revenue rates), which has become a challenge as of late at most desirable properties.

You never know though, I also got some excellent returns over the past two years including this year after the change to flexible awards.

These are the Terms & Conditions for this promotion:

For members purchasing Points using a foreign currency, Points are sold in U.S. dollars (US$). Learn more about the Marriott Bonvoy program here and ways to redeem your Points here. Please refer to your credit card company for foreign exchange rates. Once Points are purchased, Purchaser’s credit card statement will reflect payment in their home currency on an itemized line displaying the foreign exchange rate charged by their issuing bank.
