Hilton Extends Gold & Diamond F&B Credit Instead Of Breakfast Worldwide For Motto Brand

Hilton introduced a much-hated breakfast credit instead of a complimentary breakfast for two as a temporary measure during the pandemic for stays in the United States.

It appears that this program feature has become permanent after being extended by a year, with no announcement of what happens next year. There is s now a Hilton brand, however, where Gold and Diamond members get a credit instead of breakfast globally.

Hilton T&Cs Update:

The Hilton Honors complimentary Daily F&B Credit is available to Gold and Diamond members at all of Hilton’s luxury, full-service and lifestyle properties as well as all Hilton Garden Inn hotels in the United States, and Motto by Hilton globally, replacing the MyWay complimentary continental breakfast benefit.

The brands that offer this in the United States include Waldorf Astoria Hotels & Resorts, LXR Hotels & Resorts, Conrad Hotels & Resorts, Canopy by Hilton, Signia by Hilton, Hilton Hotels & Resorts, Curio Collection by Hilton, Tapestry Collection by Hilton, DoubleTree by Hilton, Motto by Hilton and Hilton Garden Inn.

A $18 F&B Credit per night will be provided at full-service and lifestyle properties located in the cities of Boston, Chicago, District of Columbia, Key West, Key Largo, New York City, San Francisco, the County of Los Angeles and the state of Hawaii.

A $12 F&B Credit per night will be provided at Motto By Hilton Tulum and a 15€ F&B Credit per night will be provided at Motto by Hilton Rotterdam Blaak.

And Hilton already reduced the F&B credit in Rotterdam to 10 euros per night.

Conclusion

Hotels love this credit because it often barely covers even a coffee and a muffin, and guests are forced to spend more money if they plan to use it.

Also, there have been significant roadblocks in getting this work as intended at the IT level, and there is still considerable confusion about when daily F&B credit can and cannot be used. Communication from Hilton to members has been very murky at best.

Clearly, this F&B credit is NOT going away anytime soon for stays in the United States, and it would be detrimental to the program if it expands elsewhere.

I guess Hilton is testing elite member willingness to accept this F&B credit globally with its new and limited Motto brand. I genuinely wish this won’t eventually expand outside of the US, but I am afraid it will.

The only members who benefit from this are those who don’t eat breakfast OR have breakfast included in their rate.
