United Airlines MileagePlus 2023 Premier Status Match Challenge

United Airlines has updated its MileagePlus Premier Status Match Challenge for 2023, allowing elite members from competing airlines and alliances to get temporary status immediately upon approval.

Those with status with most Oneworld or SkyTeam alliance airlines + select others can get MileagePlus Silver, Gold, or Platinum for 120 days, during which they need to fulfill the challenge to keep it through January 2024. Those that earn status from this offer on or after July 1^st this year can then keep it through January 2025.

MileagePlus account number (If you are not yet a member, join today.)

Valid email address on your MileagePlus account

Copy of your most recent mileage summary or 2023 membership card for the frequent flyer program you are matching from. It must clearly identify your full name, current elite status, including your status expiration date or validity period, which should be valid through the duration of the current calendar year. (Please note that many digital frequent flyer program membership cards do not include an expiration date.)

United’s Notes:

Offer is not valid for members who have participated in the MileagePlus Status Match program or received a Premier status exception within the last 5 years.

Members who hold elite status because of a trial or temporary elite status in the other airline program are not eligible for the MileagePlus Premier Status Match program.

Premier membership materials will not be issued for the 120-day offer period. You may enjoy Premier benefits on United- or United Express-operated flights by providing your account number when making reservations or at check-in. During the 120-day offer period, you may not have access to all reciprocal Premier benefits with United’s partner airlines, including access to Star Alliance^TM lounges.

Through this offer, you will not be able to qualify for a higher Premier status level than the one you are matched to in MileagePlus. For example, if you are matched to Premier Silver, you will not be able to earn Premier Gold status through this offer, even if you will fly more than the 8 PQF and earn more than 2,600PQP on flights operated by United or United Express during the offer period. However, you will be able to qualify to a higher status level if you reach one of the published qualification thresholds for Premier status.

Upon meeting the PQF and PQP requirements to qualify for Premier Platinum status through this offer, members will be awarded 20 PlusPoints, which will be credited to their account within 7-10 business days. PlusPoints will not otherwise be awarded based on matched status or status reached through the MileagePlus Premier Status Match challenge

If you are unable to complete both the PQF and PQP requirements within the 120-day offer period, your matched MileagePlus Premier status will expire, and you may be returned to a lower earned Premier level, or general member status, at United’s sole discretion.

Conclusion

The United Premier Status Match Challenge makes the most sense to complete AFTER July 1^st this year because the status is then valid through January 2025 instead of 2024.

It can make sense to match IF you know that you can meet the match requirements and you plan on flying United or their Star Alliance partners in the future.

You have to remember that this is NOT once in a lifetime, but you must have a minimum of five years between fast tracks.

Offer is not valid for members who have participated in the MileagePlus® Status Match program or received a Premier Status Exception within the last 5 years.

To request a MileagePlus Status Match, a participant must be a member of MileagePlus and hold an active account with an eligible airline and have an eligible elite level valid for the current calendar year. Members who have qualified for their current elite level with the other airline due to meeting published criteria, lifetime status awards or completion of a promotional offer are eligible for the Status Match program. Members who hold elite status because of a trial elite status in the other airline program, are not eligible for the MileagePlus Premier Status Match program. Requests from members who otherwise meet the criteria for a Premier Status Match will not receive such status if the member already holds equivalent or higher status in the MileagePlus Program. United reserves the right to request supplemental documentation from participants to determine Status Match eligibility.

United reserves the right to rescind any Status Match granted, if during the course of an audit or investigation United determines that an individual is in violation of the MileagePlus program rules.

Earned 2023 Premier status is valid through January 2024. The MileagePlus status is valid through January 2025 for customers who earn Premier status through this promotion on or after July 1, 2023.
