Finnair has started to tease its 100th anniversary, which takes place on November 1, 2023, although the airline had its first flight on March 20, 1924.
The airline was founded as Aero Oy (and hence the two-letter code AY) that was used until 1953, when Finnair branding took over.
You can access Finnair’s page for their 100th anniversary here.
Finnair has already released a three-minute video to celebrate this occasion.
I imagine we will see centennial-related promotions later in the year closer to the November 1 date.
Finnair is the sixth oldest airline (that has continuously operated since its founding), and only KLM, Avianca, Qantas, Aeroflot, and Czech Airlines (one plane) are older.
