Accor was late coming up with a global coronavirus (COVID-19) reservation cancellation and refund policy (read more here, here, here and here).

The French hotel company has now updated the policy globally for stays through May 31, 2020, adding one country (Spain) to the exceptions list that previously included France and Italy.

Accor Live Limitless Greater China 12-Month Status Extension

Accor Live Limitless (ALL) yesterday sent out communication Greater China (China, Hong Kong, Macao & Taiwan) Accor Plus (read more here) and ALL members about status and points expiry waivers due to COVID-19.

Members whose account address is in any of the countries/areas will have their status extended by 12 months until December 31, 202, and. points expiry is suspended from February 1 through January 31, 2021.

Accor Plus Greater China Coronavirus (COVID-19) Policies

Accor Plus, a paid Accor membership program for discounts in Asia-Pacific (read more here), has now sent out a communication to members living in Greater China (Mainland, Hong Kong, Macao & Taiwan) in regards to COVID-19 pandemic.

Accor Plus extends member tiers through 2022, and points expiry has been suspended through January 31, 2021.

Accor Live Limitless sent out emails two weeks ago (read more here) about their coronavirus response in regards to reservation cancellations and refunds (read more here) and how they will handle status qualification.

Elite members have been gifted (check your account) 50% of the number of nights and points for the status level they qualified in 2019.

Message From Accor Plus Regarding COVID-19 Pandemic

Accor has a paid Accor Plus membership program that is valid for stays at participating hotels in Asia-Pacific (read more here).

Accor Plus members get a 10% discount, food and beverage discount, and free night certificate. The paid membership is valid for 12 months.

The French hotel company has now updated the policy that was initially announced last week, but it is still not in line with what others such as Hilton and Marriott are doing.

Hotels and all hospitality sector companies have been hit hard by the coronavirus epidemic that has lead to empty planes, many now grounded at airports around the world, and hotels, some currently temporarily closed.

Hotel CEOs have released their video responses to the crisis, trying to get their message out and rally the troops (employees, hotel owners, and guests/loyalty program members). Marriott CEO released their message last week (watch here) while IHG’s Keith Bar did it a couple of days ago (read more here).

Accor has now updated (March 19, 2020) its waiver and cancellation policy in the wake of the current coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

Accor allows guests to modify their reservations for stays until April 30, 2020, a date that is almost around the corner. Refunds are only granted in specific regions and countries, which are not disclosed.

Accor has updated its coronavirus (COVID-19) cancellation and modification policies as of Friday (March 13, 2020), taking into account this ever-expanding global pandemic.

Accor is still not offering refunds, like most of its competitors do, but will allow guests to modify their arrival date through December 31, 2020.
