Delta SkyMiles LATAM Miles Earning Chart April 1, 2020

Delta bought a stake in LATAM last year (read more here) that is now in the process of exiting the Oneworld Alliance on May 1 (read more here).

The frequent flier partnership between these two airlines begins on April 1, 2020, and Delta has now released miles earning chart for its SkyMiles members who fly on LATAM.

Delta SkyMiles and GOL Smiles partnership is ending on April 1, 2020, the same date LATAM becomes a frequent flier partner of the US airline (read more here).

Delta took a stake in LATAM last year that exits Oneworld Alliance on May 1, 2020 (read more here). Delta’s former partner, GOL, becomes, yet again, a partner with American Airlines (read more here).

Delta & LATAM Frequent Flier Partnership Begins On April 1, 2020

Delta, SkyTeam member, bought a 20% stake in LATAM, part of Oneworld, last year (read more here).

Delta SkyMiles members can start earning and redeeming miles on LATAM flights and likely vice versa on April 1. LATAM is exiting Oneworld on May 1 (read more here). 

Delta Economy Awards Returns Starting At 11,000 SkyMiles

Delta, an airline that no longer publishes award charts, has launched SkyMiles sale for travel to select destinations in Asia, Europe, and the Americas this spring.

SkyMiles members can redeem for award tickets between select US cities and Nassau, St., Thomas, Paris, Amsterdam, and Seoul, starting at 19,000 SkyMiles plus taxes/fees.

U.S. Airlines Are Extending Their Cancellations To Mainland China & Hong Kong Until Late April

The big three U.S. airlines American, Delta and United have revised their schedules and pushed the cancellations of mainland China & Hong Kong Routes until late April of 2020.

Carriers have previously suspended flights to the mainland until the end of March in reaction of a lawsuit from pilots unions which claimed danger for the crew when flying into potentially contaminated areas.

LATAM Exits Oneworld On May 1, 2020

LATAM and Delta Air Lines announced (read more here) on September 26, 2019, that the US airline had taken a 20% stake in its Latin American counterpart that would, as a result of this investment, exit Oneworld in due course.

Airlines usually need to give an alliance 12 months notice of their withdrawal. Qantas posted on its website in November (read more here) that LATAM partnership would end on October 1, 2020. In December, LATAM sent out an update (read more here) to its frequent fliers that they are in the process of accelerating the exit.

DOT Fines Delta For Offloading Muslim Passengers

The U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) released a Consent Order on Friday against Delta that had previously offloaded passengers for religious reasons.

Delta employees on several flights felt uncomfortable with Muslim passengers and ended up booting them off flights even when they had cleared security like every other passenger.
