Hilton just unveiled their 3^rd quarter of 2012 bonus points promotion. You will receive double Hilton HHonors bonus points for Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday stays. Weekend stays of Friday, Saturday, and Sunday will receive triple Hilton HHonors points. This promotion is valid from July 1^st to September 30^th, 2012.

You need to register for this promotion in advance for the bonuses to kick in. There is a list of 495 properties that have decided not to participate to this promotion that you can find at the end of this post or on Hilton’s website. The terms and conditions also refer to rates that don’t qualify for this promotion, but only links to generic Hilton HHonors terms and conditions page. One of my favorite rate that is normally not a qualifying one for any bonus points promotion, PR13CB “Corporate Benefits Employee Offer, is not listed there. I would not expect it to qualify, however.

Here’s how you calculate the number of bonus points that you would earn:

How will the Double and Triple points be calculated?
For the Triple Your Trip promotion, the Bonus Points you earn per night are calculated based on the average nightly folio of your total stay (average nightly folio is calculated by taking the total net folio of your stay during the Promotion Period, divided by the total number of nights of the stay). Triple Your Trip Double Points are awarded for Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday nights in your stay. Triple Your Trip Triple Points are awarded for Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights in your stay.

Example:
US Net Folio: $1,038.38 x 10 pts per $1 = 10,383 BASE Points
10,383 BASE Points / 7* = 1,483 Average Points Per Night
*(replace 7 with total # of nights of the stay within the Promotion Period)

CALCULATION OF TRIPLE POINTS:

• Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights (3 nights) will receive Triple Points
• Triple Points is always 2 x BASE. Therefore, 2 x (BASE) 1,483 = 2,966
• 2,966 (triple points value) x 3 (total nights that are eligible for triple points) = 8,898 (total triple points for 3 nights)

CALCULATION OF DOUBLE POINTS:

• Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday nights (4 nights) will receive Double Points
• Double Points is always 1X BASE. Therefore, 1 x (BASE) 1,483 = 1,483
• 1,483 X 4 (total nights eligible for double points) =  5,932 (total double points for 4 nights)

CALCULATION OF TOTAL BONUS POINTS AWARDED:

• 8,898 (total triple points) + 5,932 (total double points) = 14,830

So, I am going to earn 30 Hilton HHonors points for my weekday stays and 40 points for weekend stays during the promotion period as a Hilton HHonors Diamond member that has set to the Double Dip earning option to points & points.

Just a reminder that it might make sense to have Virgin Atlantic as your double dip partner because you can later transfer the Virgin Atlantic miles back to Hilton HHonors points. This is very useful if you have relatively inexpensive one night stays. The other option is still to have BMI as you double dip partner.

What if I already have a reservation, is it eligible for the promotion?
Yes, as long as the member is registered for the promotion prior to check-out of the stay and the reservation is for an eligible stay. Regardless of when a reservation was booked, any nights within the Promotion Period will receive the promotion bonus.

If I check-in before July 1, 2012 or check-out after September 30, 2012, do I still earn credit for that stay?
Registered HHonors members will receive a bonus only for the nights of an eligible stay completed during the Promotion Period, regardless of a check-in date before the Promotion Period begins or a check-out date after the Promotion Period ends.

Will I receive Double Points or Triple Points for any stays within the Promotion Period that I completed PRIOR to registering for the promotion?
No. Only members registered prior to check-out will receive Double and/or Triple Points for nights within the Promotion Period.

Will the Double and Triple points apply to all points received during the stay?
The offer applies only to Base Point earnings for the nights during the Promotional Period and does not include Elite tier bonus or other Bonus Points.

Can an HHonors member receive both Double Bonus Points and Triple Bonus Points with their stay?
Yes. HHonors members are awarded Double Points for Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday nights. Triple Points are awarded for Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights.
