Hyatt Covid-19 Update (Corporate)

Hyatt, on Wednesday, released its first-quarter financial results that also include information about the effect of the Covid-19 pandemic to the company.

I went through the filing and will dial into the call today to see if there are any additional tidbits about what Hyatt’s guidance is for the rest of the year and 2021.

American Airlines Status Extensions Through January 2022 Processed


American Airlines has now processed elite status extension through to January 2022, as was announced in early April (read more here) due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

This extension also included those of us who got the status based on a partnership that American Airlines and Hyatt formed last year (read more herehere and here).

American Airlines AAdvantage 25% Transfer Bonus When Converting World of Hyatt Points To Miles


American Airlines has a new transfer bonus campaign, adding a 25% bonus when World of Hyatt members convert their hotel points to AAdvantage miles until the end of May.

The promotion is valid until May 31, 2020 though it’s recommended to make an exact calculation if the value of transferring Hyatt points out to airline miles is really a good deal.

Hyatt Teams Up With Global Biorisk Advisory Council


Accor (read more here), Marriott (read more here), and Hilton (read more here) have already announced their new cleanliness standards due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Hyatt has now taken the safety of associates and guests into a new level by teaming up with Global Biorisk Advisory Council (GBAC) that looks like an organization fighting Ebola.

Excellent Opportunities For Pre-Bookings In Bali: Alila Ubud Villa + Meal Plan For Just $160 Per Night


Over the last couple of weeks we have seen some very good deals for various hotels in Bali and I just noticed another campaign that showed up on Facebook for the Alila Ubud where I stayed several times.

Hyatt Greater China 34% Off Bed & Breakfast Rate Plan For Stays Through July 31, 2020

Hyatt has a new rate plan for stays in Greater China (China, Hong Kong, Macau & Taiwan) through July 31, 2020.

Members save 34% on Hyatt’s Bed & Breakfast rate that is cancelable up to 24 hours of scheduled arrival. You must book by May 18.

Hyatt Systemwide Occupancy Rate 15% & 300 Hotels Closed

Hyatt made a Covid-19 related trading update today due to debt issuance at it doesn’t look good (nothing unexpected though).

The average occupancy at hotels still operating is hovering at 15%, and more than one-third of Hyatt’s affiliated properties have suspended operations (300+).

World Of Hyatt Free Night Award Extensions Processed Through December 31, 2021


World of Hyatt announced back on April 3, 2020 (read more here) that elite tiers would be extended by a year and free night awards through December 31, 2021.

Elite tiers were already extended last week through February 28, 2022 (read more here), and today Hyatt has processed the free night awards.

American Airlines Executive Platinum Extension For World Of Hyatt Globalists


World of Hyatt and American Airlines launched reciprocal earnings and status benefits last year (read more here and here).

World of Hyatt was offering elite status fast tracks for elite AAdvantage members and vice versa. Then late last year, some World of Hyatt Globalists were offered Executive Platinum status for a year (read more here, here, and here).

World Of Hyatt Credit Card Bonus Elite Qualifying Night April 15 – June 30, 2020

Hyatt and its guest loyalty program World of Hyatt have earlier announced reservation cancellation waivers (read more here) and extension of member tiers and free night awards (read more here).

Now, Hyatt and Chase are trying to get affiliated credit cardholders to swipe more by offering additional elite night credit for every $5,000 in spend between April 15 – June 30, 2020.

World of Hyatt Status Extensions Processed

Hyatt has been battling the Covid-19 pandemic as any other hospitality sector business by suspending operations, furloughing employees, and extending member tiers.

The hotel company first extended World of Hyatt member tiers for those in Asia-Pacific (read more here, here and here) before extending that to members worldwide last week (read more here).

Hotels first released e Greater China and Asia-Pacific status extensions and reservations waivers due to the coronavirus pandemic that we first covered in late February (read more here).

COVID-19 has turned to a worldwide pandemic since our last update, and most status and reservation policies are now valid for members and stays worldwide.

Surprise 10,000 Yen Mastercard Cashback For Hyatt Stay?


One of the credit cards that I carry and use is a Mastercard issued by HSBC in Hong Kong to my Premier account.

There have sometimes been weird small refunds posted to the card after I have swiped it at some retailers in Australia, but I was surprised to receive 10,000 yen refund for my recent charge.
