Hyatt made a Covid-19 related trading update today due to debt issuance at it doesn’t look good (nothing unexpected though).
The average occupancy at hotels still operating is hovering at 15%, and more than one-third of Hyatt’s affiliated properties have suspended operations (300+).
World of Hyatt was offering elite status fast tracks for elite AAdvantage members and vice versa. Then late last year, some World of Hyatt Globalists were offered Executive Platinum status for a year (read more here, here, and here).
Now, Hyatt and Chase are trying to get affiliated credit cardholders to swipe more by offering additional elite night credit for every $5,000 in spend between April 15 – June 30, 2020.
Hyatt has been battling the Covid-19 pandemic as any other hospitality sector business by suspending operations, furloughing employees, and extending member tiers.
Hotels first released e Greater China and Asia-Pacific status extensions and reservations waivers due to the coronavirus pandemic that we first covered in late February (read more here).
COVID-19 has turned to a worldwide pandemic since our last update, and most status and reservation policies are now valid for members and stays worldwide.
One of the credit cards that I carry and use is a Mastercard issued by HSBC in Hong Kong to my Premier account.
There have sometimes been weird small refunds posted to the card after I have swiped it at some retailers in Australia, but I was surprised to receive 10,000 yen refund for my recent charge.
