Kimpton Karma Becomes IHG Rewards Club Early 2018

IHG acquired Kimpton back in 2014 (read more here) and there has been no loyalty integration between IHG Rewards Club & Kimpton Karma programs. No benefits or even earning points for IHG members for staying at Kimpton properties.

Now, IHG has finally announced that Kimpton’s Karma program will be folded to IHG Rewards Club in early 2018 and Inner Circle (highest Karma status) will become invitation only extension of Spire Elite status.

Kimpton is owned by IHG but the program or hotels besides the one in Amsterdam that was previously Crowne Plaza are not in any shape or form integrated with IHG Rewards Club. Kimpton hotels have their own Karma Rewards.

Kimpton Karma – IHG Rewards Club Integration By 2018?


Intercontinental Hotels Group (IHG) acquired Kimpton back in 2014 (read more here) and Kimpton emailed to Karma members late 2015 (read more here) indicating loyalty program integration in 2017. This hasn’t happened.

IHG Rewards Club members can book Kimpton hotels via IHG’s booking channels but there are zero status recognition or nights/points earned for the stays. There is only one exception to this rule that is the Kimpton Amsterdam (read more here) that used to be Crowne Plaza in previous life.

When I was looking hotel options for a stay in Amsterdam this month, there was a note that Kimpton DeWitt Amsterdam would be open for reservations this spring, although the first date available for bookings is June 1, 2017.

Kimpton’s Karma and IHG’s IHG Rewards Club have stayed separate and there have been no attempts trying to tap into the IHG distribution system or loyalty program members to market Kimpton.

IHG/Kimpton Lose Massive Capacity in San Francisco After Properties Exit The Chain


IHG Hotels seem to have lost the majority of their Kimpton Hotels in San Francisco. As of right now there are only two properties left that can be booked.

Unfortunately out of the vast nine hotels portfolio, only The Buchanan and the Sir Francis Drake Hotel are remaining at the disposal of the customers. That is too bad!

More Booze At Select Kimpton Hotels: Introduces Nightcap Program


Starting on Monday this week, guests at select Kimpton hotels have been able to participate to a nightcap program.

Guests will most likely receive a small pour of brandy, cognac, or port that is paired with a small bite. This is offered usually between 9PM to 10:30PM, although hotels are free to set the hours.

InterContinental Hotels Group today has agreed to purchase San Francisco based Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants that operates 62 boutique hotels and has 16 properties in the pipeline, for $430 million.

Kimpton has launched a new promo for Karma Rewards members that can earn double stay credits and up to 20% off for stays between July 23 and September 30, 2014, that are booked by August 4.

Kimpton Introduces Karma Rewards (InTouch Is Gone)


Kimpton has been teasing for the past few weeks about the enhancements coming to its InTouch program that is now called Karma Rewards.

There are 4 levels in it’s program, Tier 1 being the lowest and Inner Circle the highest. When you sign up for the program, you will start at the base level that is the Tier 1.
