This promotion is based on STAYS and not on NIGHTS. You can access the web page for this promotion here. You can only access the page, when signed in to your Marriott Rewards account and you have been targeted for this.

Reminder To Book Hotel Stays Both Paid & Award Night By Night

It would be a time to remind all the readers that they should consider booking paid and award stays one night at a time even for longer stays. I have again received couple of emails from the readers in the past week that have run into problems, when trying to shorten award stays.

1. Reader booked a stay under the old Hilton HHonors award schedule

Marriott Rewards Targeted Offer: Up To 10,000 Bonus Points In Florida

Marriott Rewards occasionally has targeted bonus offers for hotel stays and I just received one for up to 10,000 bonus points for a stay of 3 nights or longer at any of the 14 participating properties in Florida.

The bonus is staggered per the schedule below:

RewardsPlus Partnership Between United Mileage Plus & Marriott Rewards

Marriott and United jointly announced today a new partnership called RewardsPlus that gives Marriott Gold status for United Premier Gold/Platinum/1K/GS members and Premier Silver on United for Marriott Platinum or Platinum Premier members. You can access Marriott’s web page for this announcement here and United’s one here.

This partnership resembles one that Starwood and Delta launched earlier this year called Crossover Rewards. You can read more about Delta/SPG partnership here.

Forbes Article About Marriott’s Transformation

There is an interesting article this week on Forbes print edition (you can access it online here) about Marriott hotels and people behind it. I think that you should read it if you are interested in about hotels in general.

The articles and the video touches the fact that the company only owns or holds the title for mere 5 of the 3800 or so hotels under the Marriott family of hotels. All the others are owned REIT’s (Real Estate Investment Trusts) and that 43% of Marriott’s hotel rooms are managed by Marriott and 54% are franchised.

Top Hotel Promotion July 2013

Here’s my pick of the five most lucrative hotel promotions that you can take advantage of this month. There are rarely promotions at the Ritz-Carlton and their promo for a free night after two stays is a good one.

1. Ritz-Carlton Free Night Certificate For Every Two Stays

Ritz-Carlton Rewards Summer 2013 Promotion: Free Night Certificate For Every Two Stays

The Glasshouse Hotel (Marriott Autograph Collection), Edinburgh, Scotland – Review Of My Fantastic Stay At Talisker Studio Suite 47

Marriott has a newly affiliated Autograph Collection hotel in Edinburgh called the Glasshouse hotel. This hotel has been open for more than 10 years, but went through refurbishment this past spring and joined Marriott in mid-June.

The reception are of this hotel is located in an old building that used to be a church. The rooms/suites are on the top floor of the adjacent building that houses restaurants and a cinema. This is a relatively small hotel, as it only has total of 65 rooms/suites.

Hotel Promotions Update (Q3) July 2013

Here’s the monthly update on current hotel promotions. There are very interesting promotions from IHG Rewards Club, Marriott & Ritz-Carlton. Hyatt still doesn’t have a global promotion for second month in a row, but launched targeted promotions for few stays .

There are so many different IHG Rewards Club promotions that I wrote IHG Rewards Club Summer 2013 Promotion Guide.

You can get cash back for most of your hotel bookings and you can read more about it here: Cashback for Your Hotel and Travel Bookings.

Radisson Blu Ambassador Hotel (Paris) Becomes Marriott One On July 1 (Last Call For Awards Using Club Carlson Points)

Radisson chain is losing one of its Paris properties the Radisson Blu Ambassador hotel to Marriott on July 1, 2013. You still have today (June 30) to book it using Club Carlson points.

Considering the current Marriott properties in Paris and their award categories, it is likely that Marriott Opera Ambassador hotel will open as category 8 (40,000 points per night) or category 9 (45,000) points per night.

Update: Marriott Properties Excluded From The Weekend Breakfast Benefit (1000 Points Instead)

Marriott made an announcement in May about the breakfast changes at their North American JW Marriott, Marriott, Renaissance, and Autograph Collection hotels starting on June 22, 2013. Gold and Platinum members are now eligible for continental breakfast 7 days week at non-resort locations. You can read my previous articles about this change here, here, and here.

There were some properties that were excluded from this benefits and Marriott provided me a list about them:

Marriott Rewards Newest Airline Partner Saudia (Saudi Arabian Airlines)

Marriott Rewards has just added a new airline partner in the Middle East: Saudia that is also known as Saudi Arabian Airlines that is a member of the SkyTeam alliance.

You can now earn Saudia’s Alfursan miles for all your Marriott family of hotels stays. You can read more about this partnership on Marriott’s website here.

Marriott Rewards American Airlines Offer: 500 Bonus Miles Per Stay Between July 15-August 15

Marriott Rewards and American Airlines announced reintroduction of their partnership, which ended abruptly few years ago, earlier this month. You can read my piece about it here.

Marriott is now offering 500 bonus airline miles for stays that are credited to American Airlines for stays between July 15 and August 15, 2013. You can earn this bonus unlimited times and there doesn’t seem to be a requirement to register for it.

Compensation Clinic: Marriott Platinum Arrival Gift Woe$

One of the benefits of being Marriott Platinum is the Platinum Arrival Gift. This is usually a F&B (food and beverage) amenity such as cheese plate & wine bottle or 500 bonus points. There are some coming changes to this that I wrote about recently (you can access that post here). The F&B choice is likely going away and replaced by $10 credit.

Now, I have spent more than 500 nights at Marriott properties in the past 10 years and I have NEVER been able to collect the Marriott Platinum Arrival Gift guarantee previously (you can read my article about the Marriott guarantees here). Employees seem to be usually rather well trained about this and for a rea$on.

American Airlines Back As Marriott Rewards Partner

Marriott and American Airlines put up a press release yesterday by announcing this “new” partnership that would allow Marriott Rewards members to earn American Airlines AAdvantage miles and convert Marriott Rewards points to miles.

But this partnership is not a new one. Marriott and American must have run into some contractual disputes back in 2010, as they announced back in April that year that their partnership would come to an end on June 30, 2010.
