Global Hotel Alliance (GHA) consists of more than 300 hotels under 14 different brands in 52 countries. The loyalty program of the GHA is called Discovery and it has three tiers (Gold/Platinum/Black).

US Airways Dividend Miles Promotion: 1000 Bonus Miles At Aloft, Element & Four Points Hotels


SPG has a new offer for US Airways Dividend Miles members that stay at Aloft, Element or Four Points hotels in North America between June 1 and December 31, 2013, for 1000 bonus miles per stay and $10 F&B (food and beverage) credit.


You must choose airline direct deposit and have US Airways as the airline partner. You need to book SSBMILES rate offer to be eligible for the bonus miles. You can access SPG’s website for this offer here.

Hotel Promotions Update June 2013


Here’s the monthly update on current hotel promotions. Most of the IHG Rewards Club one time bonus offers that expired on March 31 are now back (and better than ever). I will have a separate “IHG Rewards Club Summer 2013 Promotion Guide” post up on Monday. Accor doesn’t have global promotions, but there are many hotel/region based ones, however.

Hyatt and Wyndham don’t have promotions at the moment. Ritz-Carlton has a very good one starting on July 1.

Ritz-Carlton Rewards Summer 2013 Promotion: Free Night Certificate For Every Two Stays


Ritz-Carlton Rewards has just announced their summer 2013 promotion that is a free night certificate that is valid at tier 1-3 Ritz-Carlton hotels for every two stays between July 1 and October 31, 2013.


You can earn maximum of 2 free nights certificate under this promotion. You need to register for this promotion prior to your stay and you can do it here.

EVA Air’s Frequent Flier Program Name Changing To Infinity MileageLands


In anticipation to EVA Air’s joining the Star Alliance on 18th of this month, Star Alliance briefly posted the information about mapping the EVA’s membership levels to alliance wide Star Alliance Silver and Gold status.


EVA Air’s frequent flier program has been called the Evergreen Club, but now they have come up with this new name that is frankly put somewhat challenging.

Bloomberg BusinessWeek Article On Airline Ancillary Revenue


There is a very interesting article on Bloomberg Businessweek about the ancillary revenues that the airlines are now collecting worldwide. You can access this article here.


Five years ago the ancillary fees that the airlines collected were just $2.5 billion and this grew to $36 billion in 2012. At the end of 2013, these fees are expected to represent 5% of all revenue collected by the airlines.

Delta SkyMiles Partner Airline Mileage Earning Changes


Delta Airlines sent out an email yesterday to SkyMiles members alerting them about the changes that are coming to earning MQM’s (Medallion Qualifying Miles) and award miles starting on September 1, 2013. You can access Delta’s dedicated web page for this change here.


The header of the email should have alerted about the most major change that is the non-earning of MQM’s on any flight operated by Korean Air (that is not marketed by Delta) and reduced earning of award miles as well.

Hyatt Gold Passport & MGM Mlife Loyalty Program Partnership


Hyatt and MGM Resort International announced today a loyalty program partnership starting on June 20, 2013, that allows Hyatt Gold Passport members earn points and stay credits when staying at twelve MGM properties in Las Vegas and MGM’s Mlife members to earn tier credits when staying at all Hyatt properties worldwide. MGM Grand Detroit, Beau Rivage and Gold Strike Tunica will later join the program.


Hyatt Gold Passport members are eligible to receive reciprocal tier status with MGM’s Mlife program and MGM Mlife members will receive tier match with Hyatt’s program. This will start sometime in August.

Double Airline Miles For All Rocketmiles Hotel Bookings (Today Only)


Rocketmiles turned two months and is offering double airline miles for all hotel bookings that are made today (June 5) by midnight CT. They just sent out an email about this offer. You can read my piece about this service here.

Starwood has a new rate offer for Sheraton hotels in United States, Canada, and the Bahamas for weekend (Thursday to Sunday) stays by September 1, 2013. You can receive $25 MasterCard branded debit gift card & Coca Cola gift package per stay.

American Airlines Share Miles Offer At Max 30% Bonus (Makes No Sense)


American Airlines has an offer out for a maximum of 30% bonus on shared miles for sharing more than 41,000 miles at a time. You can access this offer on AA’s website here.


You have to pay for moving the miles between accounts and American will just add the bonus miles in top of the transferred miles.

IHG Rewards Club Stay Bonuses: June 1 to July 31


IHG Rewards Club has emailed number of personalized Stay-offers for bonus points after number of nights. Note that these are based on NIGHTS and not on STAYS.


The wording of the email suggests that you were emailed one only if you had already signed up for the double base points offer that I have written previously (read here).

Update On The AMR (American Airlines) & US Airways Merger

There was an interesting article yesterday on Bloomberg about the expected timetable of the merger between the AMR, parent of American Airlines, and US Airways. You can access the piece here.


Both Horton (CEO of AMR) and Parker (CEO of US Airways) are at the IATA’s annual meeting in Capetown and gave interviews to the media about the progress of the merger.
