It is time for the conclusions on the Most Rewards Hotel Loyalty Program-series that I have been writing in the past month. I hope that you are still hanging there after all the spreadsheets that I have done.

In order to evaluate the different hotel loyalty programs in terms of earning points and to capture the number of points that you earn on average, I constructed two scenarios:

Is SPG Too Hot To handle? (Blocked In Some Countries)

Have you been to countries, where some SPG (Starwood Preferred Guest) related sites have been blocked? I certainly have and never thought more than this would be just a some sort of technical glitch.

Hilton 5% Cash Back Now At TopCashback’s UK Website

You can now earn 5% cash back for Hilton bookings that are made on TopCashback’s UK website that you can access here.

Note that due to special requirements from Hilton part, you cannot withdraw these to any other than Tesco’s Club Card points that you can later exchange to British Airways Avios or Virgin Atlantic Flying Club miles and other travel related vouchers. I will cover this aspect on a later post.

How Fat Are Expedia’s Hotel Margins?

Lasts week, I stayed at a property in eastern Bali that I had booked using Expedia. I invoked Expedia Price Guarantee, as the hotel was available at a lower rate on Booking.com. You can read my experience of using Expedia’s price guarantee here.

When I was checking into the property, I had a peek of the reservation confirmation that the property had received from Expedia by email and took a photo of it using my phone. It showed the pricing and other info for the hotel to process the payment from Expedia for my prepaid stay.

Hilton Loses Hilton Maldives Iru Fushi Resort & Spa – No Longer Hilton Property

Hilton Maldives Iru Fushi Resort has ended its affiliation with Hilton and all Hilton management personnel have left the property.

The hotel has taken back its previous name Iru Fushi Beach Resort & Spa. The hotel joined the Hilton family of hotel on July 2009.

IHG Rewards Club Last Minute Reward Nights Out For May

Priority Club just released a list of last minute rewards nights for this coming weekend. You need to book them on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday for Friday, Saturday, or Sunday nights this coming weekend. You can access the full list of hotels by following this link.

These last minute rewards nights are offered at 50% discount of the usual number of points needed. This time they have 49 hotels on the list of which two are InterContinental ones.

50 Free Virgin America Or 100 Etihad Miles For PointsHound Sign Up (No Purchase Required)

PointsHound has two new offers for either 50 free Virgin America Elevate Points (sign up here) or 100 free Etihad Airways miles (sign up here) for just signing up for their program.

Both of these offers are set to expire on May 31, 2013. Last year, when PointsHound was offering free airline miles, the offers were retired early.

US Airways Dividend Miles Buy Or Gift Miles 100% Bonus Offer (May 2013)

US Airways has a a new offer for buying or gifting miles. You will get up to 100% on purchased miles between May 1 and May 31, 2013. You can access US Airways web page for this offer here.

The maximum number of miles that you can buy under this offer is capped at 50,000 that is then double to total of 100,000 miles.

Etihad Airways Le Club Accorhotels Newest Airline Partner

Le Club Accorhotels has quietly introduced a new airline partner Etihad Airways. You ca access Accor’s web page of partner airlines here.

You can convert Le Club Accorhotels points that you have to miles 2 for 1 i.e. 2000 Le Club Accorhotels points becomes 1000 miles after conversion.

The new strain on bird flu has been on the news a lot here in Asia in the past week after Taiwanese, who had not been in direct contact with birds, contradicted the virus. This was believed to be a human to human transfer of the virus.
