GOL Goes To Court For Unannounced Smiles Award Chart Changes?

After Avianca made unannounced changes to its award chart back in May (read my take here), GOL decided to do an unannounced stealth devaluation for their award chart too. The number of miles required for awards went up by 33%  and airline had old award chart levels up on its website for days after they were no longer bookable.

Now, federal prosecutor has given GOL ten days to respond to an inquiry about how many passengers has paid higher than shown miles requirements and how much money was involved in this.

MilePoint Wall&Main Marketing Spam

Yesterday, I received  email spam from MilePoint about an ability to “invest” to Wall&Main and to essentially buy United MileagePlus miles at around 3 cents each. You could purchase a $30K package and get 1 million miles & Platinum Premier status. Wall&Main would also throw in Bose Quiet Comfort headphones.

wallmain

Note that you would not own any equity of this Wall&Main, but would essentially just get the miles and the United status and that’s about it.

Whine Wednesdays: Do Not Disturb?

This has been a hotel pet peeve of mine for quite some time. I tend to work in a hotel room/suite, have late check out and always put the DND (Do Not Disturb) hanging on the outside door knob. And I HATE when the housekeeping disregards the DND and knocks the door and this happens way too often.

whine-wednesdays-dnd

Yesterday, I was staying at the Crowne Plaza hotel in Vilnius and, as usually, had the DND hanging on the door. Someone knocks the door at 12:30PM, opens the door and close it after I yell something. I get up, walk to the door, open it and nobody is to be seen in the corridor.

This morning, I had the hotel TV set on BBC World New and saw that there was going to be a feature on Fast Track weekend travel program about frequent flier miles or airline miles as they called them. This happened last time couple of months ago. If you have had a good or bad compensation experience, just drop me an email. I will post the best ones in coming weeks.
