Priority Club Chinese New Year & 5 Day Sales at 50% Off

InterContinental Hotels Group is having a Chinese New Year & 5 Day Flash sales for their Chinese properties. You can book them at up to 50% off. You can access Priority Club web page for this sale here.

There are two separate offers:

Crediting Le Club Accorhotel Points to Iberia Avios

Iberia is one of the better airline partners of the Le Club Accorhotels. The ability to choose Iberia Avios as your partner was recently put on hold, but is back up again.

With most of the other airline programs (there are exceptions), you will earn ONE airline mile per TWO Le Club Accorhotels points. With Iberia this exchange rate is different, however. Every TWO Le Club Accorhotels points converts to FIVE Iberia Avios.

Using AviancaTaca LifeMiles for Hilton Hotel Stays

AviancaTaca’s LifeMiles has a new partnership with Hilton HHonors that allows you to book Hilton hotels using your award miles. You can access this offer here.

You need to use your LifeMiles account number and password to log in into Hilton’s website where you can see the number of miles required for your stay. I tried accessing the site using both Chrome and FireFox browsers but the site was not functional. It seems to work better using Internet Exploder, however.

Targeted Offers From American Airlines for Double Elite Qualifying and Award Miles & Evips

American Airlines had number of offers for double elite qualifying and redeemable miles in 2012. The airline also had a direct status match offer for Executive Platinum status for United 1K’s and later an expedited requalification offer as well.

Now, American has sent number of offers for targeted audience for double elite qualifying miles, double elite qualifying points, double redeemable miles, and for couple of complimentary eVips. The promotional period for earning double miles is between January 22 and February 22, 2013.

Air France-KLM Flying Blue Gold Status Match Campaign

These status match offers from number of airlines come and go yearly. Last year, I took advantage of status match offers from Alaska, Etihad and SAS. They can come handy for extra miles, lounge access, and for matching with other airlines.

Now, Air France-KLM has a status match campaign for Flying Blue Gold status from any alliance. Airlines don’t normally match within an alliance, but this would indicate matching from other SkyTeam airlines as well.

My Hotel Program Strategy for 2013

The number of hotel nights that I have stayed at the hotels yearly hasn’t really fluctuated for close to ten years (as I have been living out of them). The hotel chains that I have frequented, however, has changed from year to year.

At the top tier level, the hotel chains are interchangeable. What matters to me most, are the quality of the promotions that the hotel chain is offering i.e. if someone is running an unlimited free night promotions, I will move all of my stays for the promotional period there.

Starwood Third or Fourth Night Free Rate Promotions for Malaysia & Indonesia

Starwood has a new third or fourth night free rate promotion for Starwood resorts in Bali, Langkawi and Lombok for stays by May 31, 2013, that are booked by March 31, 2013. You can access the Starwood’s page for this promotion here.

As always with these rate promotions, you should check ALL the rates that are available for your dates and compare them. The promotion code for the third night free is Z3R and for the fourth night free Z4R.

Free and Bonus Points for Signing Up American Airlines AAdvantage Eshopping Mall

Over the years, I have made lot of purchases using airline related shopping portals during promotional periods. Now, American Airlines (or Cartera) is offering 100 bonus miles just for signing up, 300 bonus miles for any purchase, and extra 600 bonus miles for a purchase of $100 or more. You can access this offer here.

This offer is only available for those that haven’t signed up for AA’s online shopping portal previously. These free miles will extend the validity of your American Airlines miles if you haven’t had or not going to have any activity for a while.

Etihad’s Double & Triple Miles Offer for Business & First Class

Etihad just sent out an offer for double miles for business class and/or triple miles for first class for travel between January 21 and February 4 that is valid ONLY for bookings that are made from January 20 to February 3, 2013. This appears to be a targeted offer and you can access it here.

The other year, I credited bunch of business class flights that I took on Sri Lankan to Etihad. There weren’t any better choice for them. In 2012, I took advantage of Etihad’s offer of matching a status with a competing airline. I am now Etihad Gold until sometime in 2014.

Emirates Business Rewards Sign Up Promotion

Emirates also has a program for rewarding companies for their employee spend on the airline. This is geared towards SME’s (Small and Medium Sized Enterprises).

Now, Emirates is offering 10K bonus Business Rewards miles for signing up for their program by January 32, 2013, and for one of the accounts flying at least one flight before the end of March, 2013. Emirates is also offering double business rewards miles on all travel in February and March, 2013. You can access this offer here.

SAS Eurobonus Budget’s Latest Partner

You can now earn SAS Eurobonus points for Budget car rentals. You can access SAS’ page for this new partnership and promotion here.

Budget is offering 500 extra points for each car rental (they don’t publish what is the base number of points earned per rental). The offer for rentals in Europe is for up to 1500 extra points for rentals of 5 days or longer.

Top Hotel Promotions for January 2013

It is somewhat slim picking right now. Marriott’s previous MegaBonus has run out and the new one is about to start next month. There is nothing out from Hyatt.

1. SPG Power Up + Le Meridien Bonus (North America) + Air Canada Aeroplan bonus (Canada)

You can make a bundle with Starwood if you can take advantage of the Power Up and Le Meridien promotions that Starwood is running concurrently. Also, there is additional bonus for Aeroplan miles for stays in Canada. For maximizing these three bonuses, you need to stay at the Le Meridien hotel in Montreal!

Priority Club 40% Bonus for Buying Points (Targeted Offer)

One LoyaltyLobby reader forwarded me an email about an offer they had received from Priority Club for buying points. Priority Club is offering 40% bonus for those that purchased points in 2012 for buying some this January. This offer ends on January 31, 2013. You can access this offer here. Please note that if the bonus doesn’t show the account is not eligible for this bonus offer.

The price of a Priority Club point after factoring the 40% bonus in quantities of more than 26K points at a time is 0.82 cents/point. This is more than what you can buy them by booking Cash & Points award and canceling it shortly afterward. The price of a point under the latter method is 0.7 cents per point.

SPG Crossover Rewards Coming?

Starwood is apparently in the process of launching Crossover Rewards that we should learn more in the coming months. Remember, you heard it first on LoyaltyLobby.

Hotel programs, airlines, and car rental companies are living in a symbiosis; more air travel means more hotel nights and car rentals etc. Hotels are often doling out status on their respective programs to frequent fliers of various airlines trying win over their business.
