British Airways and their respective trade unions have been in disagreements for years and most recently this fire has been fueled again as the carrier reveled a “fire and re-hire” solution to streamline the company through the Covid crisis.

Union leaders have now sent an explicit warning to British Airways management saying that immediate industrial action (strikes) would be forthcoming if no suitable agreement is reached.

InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) or IHG Hotels has been consistently trying to break into the luxury segment first by acquiring Kimpton, and then Regent Hotels and Six Senses.

IHG Rewards Club, the loyalty program for the group, however, is not calibrated correctly to provide loyalty benefits in addition to rewards for members that are used to top elite tier benefits at Hilton, Hyatt, Marriott, or even Accor hotels.

Global Hotel Alliance (GHA) is a collection of independently branded chain hotels, as the name suggests, that work together under the GHA’s Discovery guest recognition program.

Now, Discover members can get a tier upgrade to Platinum by merely having a stay of two nights at any of the hotels by August 31, 2020. Platinum status usually requires a minimum of 10 nights in a calendar year.

IHG is bringing temporarily (likely permanent) Regent and Kimpton-brands into the InterContinental Ambassador-program.

We have previously reported (access here) that Ambassador-benefits, including the free weekend night voucher, were valid for stays at Regent hotels outside of Greater China through the end of 2021. Now, IHG has introduced benefits for Greater China Regents until December 31, 2020.

As Bavaria is once again mulling stricter Covid-19 measures passengers returning to Munich Airport can now receive a Coronavirus test for free.

Passengers who want to utilize this test upon arrival option don’t have have to register with the the airport’s emergency department, just provide the arrival boarding pass in order to be eligible for the free service.

PPE Vending Machines At Airports & Transit Hubs?

As many airports and airlines now required passengers to be masked up at all points, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that there is a new life for vending machine owners who stock them up with PPEs.
