American Airlines & British Airways Bonus Offers For Fall Transatlantic Travel

Both British Airways and American Airlines launched their identical offers for fall transatlantic travel on transatlantic JV partners (American Airlines, British Airways, Finnair, Iberia and OpenSkies) past week.

It is likely that Finnair and Iberia have this very same offer available for their frequent fliers, but I have not received information about their offers yet.

Last week, I wrote about a New Member Bonus offer of 3,000 points that I thought would only apply for one stay within 90 days of registration.

I was wrong, however. This promotion is much better.

SPG.com Down Again?

Starwood had a major website outage earlier this week that lasted for more than 12 hours. Most of those 12 hours were during the daytime in North America that lead me to believe that there was nothing “planned” in this regardless what the announcement on the website said.

Now, the Starwood’s website is down again?

Pilots Sleeping In Cockpit On Virgin Atlantic Flight

According to UK aviation authority (CAA) both Virgin Atlantic pilots had been sleeping in cockpit on a long-haul Airbus A330 flight back to UK. The airplane had been on an auto-pilot during the incident.

It is quite unbelievable that UK aviation laws allow someone to have a nap while in a cockpit, but obviously not all the cockpit members should be napping at the same time.

SPG Platinum Requalification Dilemma

My journey with SPG didn’t start before 2007 and I have had more than 400 nights with the chain ever since. This year would be my sixth year as a Platinum member and I would be on my way to lifetime Platinum in four years time.

spg-dilemma

The problem I have had with SPG for the past two years is the lack of worthwhile promotions. The business has been good for the hotels in general and Starwood haven’t had the need to lure in guests using good promotions.
