Aeroplan’s twice yearly hotel points to airline miles conversion bonus has returned. You can get maximum of 25% or 25,000 miles for converting points from select partner programs between November 11 and December 9, 2013.

The bonus that you earn is dependent of the number of points that you convert to miles by the following thresholds:

Hertz Marriott Rewards Offer Of 2000 To 5000 Points Per Rental (Extended)

Hertz has extended the promotion for 5000 Marriott Rewards points per rental of five days or longer. Shorter rentals of more than two days are eligible for 2000 Marriott Rewards points. This offer is valid for pick up through February 28, 2014, at participating Hertz locations in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Europe, Puerto Rico, Australia and the New Zealand.

These car rental promotions are often tricky. I normally rent from Hertz using rates that are only eligible for points on Hertz’s own rewards program and not eligible for partner miles or points.

Top Hotel Promotions November 2013

The 2013 is soon coming to an end and we should start learning about the first quarter 2014 promotions. The hotel promotions haven’t been this good for a while. Here are my top five for this month.

Hyatt Award Chart Adjustments & New Category 7 (Number Of Points Required Up By Up To 300%)

Hyatt made an announcement on Sunday that the program keeps “growing” and “evolving” and this must mean that they need to make an adjustment to award categories (likely to be able to write down part of the points liability).

The new award chart and the “evolved” categories will be in place for award reservations made on or after January 7, 2014. Existing reservations at the lower award levels can be modified until February 15, 2014, without having to pay the higher number of points.

The Economist On Loyalty Programs

You know that the loyalty program devaluations have been bad, when they make it all the way to the Economist magazine.

The Gulliver piles on the recent United and Delta award chart changes (before the Delta’s latest move late Friday) and argues that the miles will be harder to earn and to use wisely in the future. You can read the entire article here.

Free 500 Airberlin Topbonus Miles

You can get 500 airberlin topbonus miles for becoming Heinemann & Me-member (German duty free chain) by December 31, 2013, and having airberlin as your partner airline.

This doesn’t require any purchases to be made before you get the miles. Signing up for the service is enough.

Compensation Clinic: Hilton Warsaw

LoyaltyLobby reader from UK emailed me about this surprising compensation experience at the Hilton Warsaw after leaving a TripAdvisor review.

The reader likes the Hilton Warsaw hotel and compliments the “hardware”, but where everything starts to fall apart is the service “software”. Unfortunately, this is not uncommon with modern hotels.

American Airlines New AAdvantage Redemption Partner: Seaborne Airlines

American Airlines has added a new AAdvantage redemption partner for flights out from San Juan, Puerto Rico, to select destinations served by Seaborne Airlines.

American Airlines used to fly on their own or American Eagle metal out from San Juan to many Caribbean destinations, but all these routes have been gutted in the past year or so. American still continues to fly their mainland hubs (Miami, New York, Chicago and Dallas) and Caracas in Venezuela.
