TripAdvisor’s Guide To Hotels: How To Get Unfavorable Reviews Removed

The other day, I wrote about the Accor APAC executive that had left some not so glowing reviews of competing properties on TripAdvisor (you can access the piece here).

A LoyaltyLobby reader sent me a copy of PDF that TripAdvisor sends to hotels about removal of negative reviews.

The Stones Hotel – Legian Bali (Marriott Autograph Collection) – Review Of My Stay

This was my first ever stay at Marriott Autograph Collection hotel. I am not 100% sure what this hotel brand stands for, but I would imagine it to be  something too different and bold to be branded as Marriott or Renaissance.

There is another Marriott chain hotel in Bali – Courtyard that is located in the most southern part of the island called Nusa Dua.

LifeMiles Acknowledges Award Chart Changes After The Fact

Last week, I wrote about the social media lesson that LifeMiles was getting on it’s Facebook page and it wasn’t pretty (read my piece here).

LifeMiles changed its award chart unannounced (read here), changed the price of purchased miles during the ticketing process (read here) and, when LifeMiles members complained about these changes on Facebook, claimed that there hadn’t been any changes to its program.

Accor Executive Caught Leaving Not So Favorable Reviews Of Rivals On TripAdvisor

Accor’s “Director of Propaganda” for Asia Pacific got caught last week for leaving glowing reviews of some Accor properties and not always so glowing ones of their rivals on TripAdvisor. You can read more about this on Telegraph’s website here and on Tnooz here.

I recently wrote about my ordeal with TripAdvisor here, where they didn’t publish a somewhat negative review of a property that I had stayed at.

Converting Points To Charitable Contribution: Case Oklahoma Tornado

Last week, I received emails from Club Carlson, Hyatt, and InterContinental Hotels Group about donating hotels points to help with disaster relief efforts in Oklahoma. Each of these programs would convert the hotel points donation to cash and give it to one of the non-profit entity that they supports.

oklahoma-ihg

Do giving points to help with these relief efforts make any sense? Mostly not due to the very low value of a point that these programs have associated their “currency” with.

Fuel Surcharges On British Airways & Iberia On American Airlines Issued Awards

This question comes up weekly on emails and messages that LoyaltyLobby readers sent me or leave on Ask John; Why the fees are so high on American Airlines issued awards to Europe?

aa-ba-question

The answer is that America Airlines collects (and likely also keeps as a ticketing carrier) the fuel surcharges that both British Airways and Iberia has filed for their routes.

Very Low Delta VDB Compensation Bid Choices For International Flights

When an airline has sold more seats to the flight that it can accommodate, they usually first source VDB (voluntarily denied boarding) volunteers for airline credits. If they don’t get enough VDB’s, then the airline can IDB (involuntarily denied boarding) some passengers that are usually eligible for cash compensation.

delta-vdb

Delta has a function on their website, where they solicit VDB’s on flights that have been oversold. You can make your bid what would be your the lowest amount that you would be willing to give your seat on that specific flight.

ZILARA Coming Soon To A Hyatt Hotel Near You?

Note sure if this ZILARA is related to Yattit that Hyatt had few years back (some sort of Hyatt’s website for social sharing & tips about locations that must have been yanked by now).

hyatt-zilara

Anyway, Hyatt just filed for a trademark application for this ZILARA. It doesn’t necessarily mean that anything will come out of this, but likely they have something planned.
